‘Iron Man 2’ Foreshadowed Ant-Man & The Wasp
For quite a while the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been double dipping into its different film franchises. It all gradually began with the debut of S.H.I.E.L.D in Iron Man (2008). However, the MCU connectivity grew stronger as time went by. The franchise grew as the number of superheroes and villains increased. These characters began to have more important roles to play in several films. The characters who played minor roles now have major stake in the entire Marvel franchise. More characters are expected to pop up or be explored in the next decade or so.
Learning that this was the case for Ant-Man and The Wasp is therefore, not a surprise. Since the release of Ant-Man’s sequel trailer, we were aware that Laurence Fishburne would be portraying a scientist. We also knew that he’d be Hank Pym’s old partner on project G.O.L.I.A.T.H. Now, we know that this ties Bill Foster to Tony Stark.
G.O.L.I.A.T.H. was initially mentioned in Iron Man 2 in an extended scene from the film. The scene features Tony looking at a hologram of a replica of the Stark Expo owned by his father. That’s when he begins studying the schematics in order to discover a brand new element which his father had left behind. where the genius-billionaire-playboy-philanthropist studies the schematics to discover the theory of a new element left behind by his father. In the extended scene, he orders JARVIS to “tap the oracle grid”
He goes on to say what becomes key in notifiying us of the connection between him and Ant-Man, “I need some things out of storage. Give me everything from Projects P.E.G.A.S.U.S., E.X.O.D.U.S. and G.O.L.I.A.T.H.”
Remember that tiny detail? It’s just as tiny as Ant-Man himself, but it brings in a pretty important tie.
