News for Fans, By Fans!

In brightest day, and blackest night we will wait for Green Lantern’s light

When the extended DC
cinematic universe was announced fans found out
that in 2020 we would get a
Green Lantern movie. During the
CW Dawn of the
Justice League
special hosted by Kevin Smith and
Chief Creative Officer at
DC
Comics Geoff Johns, we discovered that the 2020 movie would be a Green

Lantern Corp movie! Since then
everyone has been waiting for casting news on who
will be wearing the green
power rings. In a giant
Batman V Superman: Dawn of
Justice
interview with Entertainment Weekly, stars of the upcoming film,
DC Comics
executives, and Warner Brothers
executives talked more about not only
the movie but the ever expanding
cinematic universe. Lots of
interesting
information came out of the article, but what stuck out most to
me was WB
executive Greg
Silverman talking about our beloved Green Lantern.

“[Green
Lantern]
is an incredible character. He’s
actually multiple incredible
characters,” Silverman says. “There’s real
opportunity there. We didn’t do a

great job on that first Green Lantern movie. This is a character
who
deserves to be treated in
the same way that Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman
are being treated
now, which is with great reverence.
I guess I can say to the
Green Lantern fans: if they can be patient with us,
I think they’ll be really

happy.”

Charles Roven who is a producer on all of the announced DC
movies
also talked about Green
Lantern saying;

“Every beat of the movie is not
yet worked out. So
there’s the possibility that he may
or may not be in
Justice League 2. For now, we felt that we were
introducing enough
characters
that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some
introduction
in Justice League 2, or
barring that, a movie
after.”

All of this information makes
sense, keeping these
movies
easy to follow will be a challenge for the best writers and directors.
That
being said there is still the Hal
Jordon voice in my head crying because he
isn’t getting enough attention.
So until 2019 everyone will just
have to heed
Mr Silverman’s advice and be patient, go read a good GL comic,
watch one of the
fantastic
cartoons, or if you are feeling real desperate watch the ill fated
2011
movie!
