We are just days away from the premiere of The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time and while we can hardly contain our excitement about the sixth installment in the franchise, there is other news surrounding star Ian Ziering that has currently piqued our interest.
During a recent interview on PeopleTV’s Chatter, Ziering who, aside from the Sharknado franchise is best known for his role as Steve Sanders on the 90s hit Beverly Hills, 90210, ever so slightly hinted at the fact that a series reunion is totally possible! In fact, there is already a mini 90210 reunion happening the upcoming Sharknado film. Fellow Beverly Hills castmate Tori Spelling is also in the upcoming Syfy film. Ziering told Chatter that both he and Spelling are still close friends and thoroughly enjoyed working together again on the latest Sharknado flick.
As if that wasn’t cool enough for 90210 fans, Ziering revealed that he is also still friends with the rest of the cast including Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Luke Perry and Jason Priestley. Apparently, the former castmates cross paths quite frequently and Ziering spoke briefly about a recent reunion with Luke Perry. The two posted a video together on Instagram and fans completely flipped. Ziering said, “There are reunions all the time we just don’t display it.” He continued by saying the video he posted of himself with Perry completely “blew up because people are so excited to see us together.”
With reboots and revivals being hot to trot right now in the industry, and with the level of fan interest, what’s the likelihood that we might get a legit and proper Beverly Hills, 90210 reunion? Ziering seems pretty positive that the odds are in the fan’s favor and it’s simply a matter of when not if. He said:
[row]“Always a chance. We all talk, we all have ideas. It’s just a matter of time, I think. There’s so much chatter on social media, so much clamoring for a reunion, I’m sure something will happen.”[/row]
Oooh! We’re so excited and hope that a Beverly Hills, 90210 reunion is in the very near future. For right now, however, all eyes are on the last Sharknado film. The sixth and final film in the franchise will air later this month following Syfy’s fifth annual weeklong Sharknado event. The Sharknado Week line up kicks off first with Deep Blue Seas 2 and will include other sharky movies such as Nightmare Shark and 6-Headed Shark Attack.
The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time will pick up right where the fifth film, Global Swarming, left off. According to a press release from Syfy, the sixth film is described as follows: “Our hero Fin (Ian Ziering) has battled sharks all over the globe, but in this last installment he will tackle the final shark-tier — time travel. In the ending moments of SHARKNADO 5: GLOBAL SWARMING, Fin was seen wandering alone on Earth after it was destroyed. Now he must travel back in time to stop the Sharknado that started it all. Will Fin and the gang be able to set everything right and save the world once and for all? A production of The Asylum, SHARKNADO 6 is directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, based on an original screenplay by Scotty Mullen.”
The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time will air on August 19th on Syfy.
