Back in May of this year, Gotham fans received the news that every fandom dreads – the series would be coming to an end after the next season. Despite the show’s continued strong ratings, all good things must come to an end eventually.
Fans have been clearly upset about the show’s impending final 10 episodes, however, the Gotham cast seems to all agree, they are just thankful for the opportunity to officially wrap up the show properly.
This past weekend, Heroes and Villains Fan Fest New Jersey brought fans together with some of their favorite celebrities from television and film including the cast of Gotham. On Saturday, David Mazouz, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, Drew Powell, and Sam Pertwee appeared on the convention panel stage where they dished a little on the upcoming season and reflected on their time together on the series.
When asked how they felt about the upcoming fifth and final season, Pertwee delivered an eloquent and heartfelt answer which the rest of the cast agreed with based on their smiles and nods of approval. Pertwee said:
[row]”I think that we’re very lucky though, that we have the opportunity to actually wrap the show up. Of course, as you say, it’s bittersweet, but we do come to a culmination after five years. We feel that you [the fans] deserve that, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed when we actually do get to the final episode. It’s breathtaking. It’s everything that I think people wish it would be. It’s going to be devastating and sad to leave my friends. We all love each other and that’s going to be very sad – to say goodbye to my friends.”[/row]
