Superman’s Henry Cavill is set to swap his red cape for the iconic deerstalker hat and Inverness cape when he plays Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes.
Enola Holmes will star Millie Bobby Brown as Enola. The new film is based on a book series written by Nancy Springer that follows Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes’ younger sister, Enola. The series began in 2006 and features 6 novels that revolve around various mysteries solved by Enola.
Cavill confirmed the news on Instagram with this post:
Henry Cavill has had a very busy few years but I’m really glad to see him doing other things outside of the DC Universe (despite that still being up in the air). We’ve had Mission Impossible: Fallout, Nomis, Netflix’s The Witcher coming soon, and now Enola Holmes. I will admit that I never imagined him to play Sherlock but I am intrigued to see what he does with the role.
According to Variety, Enola Holmes will start production during the summer.
