“I know it’s been a long time comin’…”

Today is Throwback Thursday, but we’ve got something brand new that’s going to make you feel like you’ve been transported back to the days when the iconic band Journey reigned supreme on the music charts.

For the first time in nearly a quarter of a century, former Journey frontman Steve Perry is back with brand new music! On Tuesday, Perry’s brand new song and video titled No Erasin’ was released on YouTube marking the first time the reclusive singer has made music in nearly 25 years. In addition to the single, Perry also has a new album which will be dropping in October.

In spite of the amount of time that has passed, Perry’s vocals still sound as smooth and sweet as ever, and the song is pretty catchy too. According to Rolling Stone, Perry explained in a statement that he rediscovered his love for music and putting together the new album took him on an emotional journey. He said:

[row]“Putting 30 years into 10 songs has certainly been an emotional experience for me. I started writing and recording these songs with the creative freedom that I was the only one who would ever hear them. Along the way, I rediscovered my love for music. Each track represents traces of my past but is also a hopeful look into the future. I invite you to listen with an open heart.”[/row]

In a more detailed statement on Perry’s website, he explained that now was the most perfect time to come back with new music because he feels that he finally has something to say. Perry continued by saying:

[row]“I would not come back to it now unless I could be absolutely emotionally honest about the music. I’m not trying to top what I’ve done in the past, or better anyone or anything. That stuff doesn’t matter to me now. In a way, it’s this simple: when I had something to say again, I said it. All I’m trying to do now is make music that really matters to me and I hope maybe will really matter to other people too.”[/row]

Steve Perry’s new album Traces drops on October 5th, 2018. You can pre-order the CD, digital download and 180-gram vinyl or stream tracks off the album HERE. Additionally, Perry is selling signed and exclusive bundles which are available now for pre-order in the official Steve Perry store.
