‘Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery’ Mobile Game is Magically Fun!

For those of you who are fans of the mobile game ‘Pokemon: Go’ but are looking for a little bit of a different adventure while you wait for your Legendary Raid to kick off – you should absolutely check out the latest nerdy mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.

Recently released in the last week of April, this game has been pretty popular among all the Harry Potter fandoms. After designing your character to your liking, you get to take off on a Hogwarts mystery of your very own. The story-line is set in 1984, which places the critical timeline before Voldemort’s rise to power and Harry Potter attending Hogwarts. Since we don’t really know much about the time period – the castle and its grounds are yours to explore!

The tagline is no joke – it truly is your Hogwarts story.

Being as this is my first Harry Potter game in years, I find it highly enjoyable. The game is incredibly spot on in regards to details, music and in regards to characters. (Yes, Professor Snape is still very much Professor Snape.)

Not only do you get to engage in fun classes such as Potions, Flying and Herbology – you also build up friendships (and make quite a few enemies) along the way. The story-line is incredibly intriguing, and I myself have found it almost impossible to put down. In addition to the play through story, there are mini ‘side-quests’ for your characters to play through. A word of caution – be mindful of the choices you make, as you truly can cost your house of choice House Points – or result in certain catastrophic decisions. To perform certain tasks means you use certain amounts of ‘energy’, which does replenish by a bar every 4 minutes. This way, you don’t have to wait too long to keep completing tasks.

At first I thought that this was going to be a super quick game that I just breeze through and barely get to enjoy. Now, I JUST completed my first year, and I discovered you really can play through Year 7.

One thing I really enjoy,  is the mini Hogwarts trivia along the way. It really was nostalgic, trying to remember little Harry Potter details from the book. While all games have their initial trial and launching errors, it is very minimal here. I have had little to no errors with this game while playing it – and I really recommend it to everyone.
