Happy National Peanut Butter Lovers’ Day: 5 Fandom Recipes You’ll Go Nuts For
Happy National Peanut Butter Lovers’ Day! Seriously guys, it’s a real day on a national calendar. We did not make this up just to toy with your emotions. We could launch, no holds barred, into a soliloquy of what makes peanut butter one of the tastiest snacks on the planet, but with all the awesome, nutty, fandom-inspired recipes we’ve aggregated, no one has the time for that— so let’s just get into the recipes, and you’re welcome.
5) Guardians of the Galaxy Groot Chocolate Peanut Butter Chex Mix
Are you as hyped for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as we are? Do you think Groot is amazing? Do you like peanut butter and chocolate? If you answered ‘yes’ to all of these questions (particularly the last one), you’re going to want to try out this Groot-themed chocolate peanut butter Chex mix. Not only is it a gluten-free, yummy snack to bring to work or school and nosh on during breaks— it takes 10 minutes to make, so if you’re having an MCU-watching party with your friends, you can whip this up in no time. We’re not making any promises (we totally are) but we’re pretty sure that if you make this and feed it to hungry Marvel appreciators at a party, you’ll be the hero of the night. Blogger Summer Len Davis shared the recipe on her website here (scroll down, it’s at the bottom of a longer post).
4) The Muppets’ Kermit The Frog Green Apples and Peanut Butter Dip
Okay, so probably the most attractive thing about this nutritionally-conscious recipe is that it’s fun enough (and tasty enough) to keep kids of all ages happy while you go about your day and try to get things done. Are you hesitant to try it because of the effort that goes into sculpting a Kermit face out of apples? Don’t be! The recipe, which can be found here, gives you step-by-step instructions, and it only takes 20 minutes of prep time (a small price to pay for those surrounded by picky eaters who double as hardcore Muppets fans). The sweetly tart snack is one the entire family can share!
3) Harry Potter Peanut Butter Chocolate Frogs
Honestly, this website is full of delicious wonders, and they’re certainly not limited to their take on a well-loved Honeydukes’ classic. Their version of a Hogsmeade treat includes peanut butter, and while the original is certainly yummy, the twist makes it all the more delightful. The blog even links you to a good place to buy a mold for the chocolate frogs you’re sure to love. Snatch the recipe up here. Nerdywithchildren’s Jamie Cifuentes initially posted the recipe, along with the caveat that you’re not restricted to using a peanut butter filling. NWC showed off the chocolate frog boxes, but didn’t link to them. Here is the DIY option (there’s also a link to make the included cards), if you’re in a rush, here is the link to WB’s online shop. Just order and wait for your frogs to arrive! Anyway, these beauties can trotted out as complimentary movie marathon treats, for Harry Potter-themed weddings or birthdays or even as a gift for your favourite Potterhead.
2) Gravity Falls Grunkle Stan’s Toffee Peanuts
Grunkle Stan was one of the best parts of Alex Hirsch’s Disney XD-cartoon, Gravity Falls. These toffee peanuts are a replication of his favourite youthful snack. The show may be over, but Fallers won’t be giving it up anytime soon— not when they can plop on the couch, eat these peanuts, and journey back to the Mystery Shack anytime they want. You can find the recipe here (there are a couple of other Gravity Falls munchies on the site, too!)
1) Harry Potter Peanut Brittle
I am not shocked in the least, and yet somehow delighted, at the amount of creativity that goes on in the Harry Potter fandom. This homemade peanut brittle is inspired by the one, the only, Molly Weasley, and a quote from third book The Prisoner of Azkaban. The recipe comes courtesy of a blog with tons of Harry Potter goodies. You can get it here.
