Happy Valentine’s Birthday, Freddie Highmore!

Cupid has struck us with another Valentine’s birthday arrow. Freddie Highmore turns 26 today!

Alfred Thomas “Freddie” Highmore was born in Camden Town, London England in 1992.

Freddie began his acting career at the age of 7 when he made his debut alongside Helena Bonham Carter in the comedy Women Talking Dirty. Two years later, in 2001, he portrayed a young King Arthur in The Mists of Avalon. Later that year, he appeared in the BBC miniseries Happy Birthday, Shakespeare. In 2004, He had roles in Two Brothers and Five Children and It. His breakthrough performance was in that same year in Finding Neverland which earned him several awards and nominations.

The following year, Highmore appeared as Charlie Bucket in Tim Burton’s version of Roald Dahl’s children’s classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Other film appearances include roles in A Good Year, The Golden Compass, August Rush, and The Spiderwick Chronicles which is also based on a popular children’s book series by author Tony DiTerlizzi.

But we all know and love him best for his roles as a young Norman Bates in the A&E series Bates Motel and currently as Dr. Shaun Murphy in The Good Doctor.

Freddie began his role as the iconic Norman Bates in 2013. The prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho was set in present day and aired for 5 seasons. He also wrote an episode in the series’ fourth season and wrote and directed a couple of episodes the series’ final season.

In 2017, he began his portrayal of Dr. Shaun Murphy in ABC’s The Good Doctor which led to his Golden Globe Nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series. He is also a producer on the show.

Freddie currently lives in London and has remained close to his Bates Motel co-star Vera Farmiga.
