When actors take on roles, they often bring parts of themselves to the characters they play. It’s why some villains are impossibly hard to hate, and some good guys have a bit of a rough exterior. That’s not to say that actors don’t divulge deeply into their craft to create entirely new parts of themselves for these roles, but the actors who can successfully put themselves into the character’s persona deliver the type of performance that sticks with viewers for years to come.

One of those actors is Chris Evans and one of those roles is Captain America. He brings his own heart and spirit to the character which makes the role that much more authentic. It’s like that with every role for Chris. From superheroes to the boy next door – Chris makes the characters he plays all the more genuine.

Speaking of genuine, Chris lives with a sincere drive to do what he can to make the world better and more fair for everyone.  He is aware that he has a platform in which people look to him and he uses it to bring awareness to problems in our society and also offers ways to help change them.

For those reasons and more, we’re honoring Chris on his birthday today. Luckily, for all of us, that means we’ve decided to gather up a few of our favorite gifs of and quotes from Chris to share with all of you.

I always say that the times in my life when I’ve been happiest are the times when I’ve seen, like, a sunset.

I weep at everything. I love things so much – I just never want to dilute that.’

‘...if the things you’re doing and the things you’re surrounding yourself with are quality people and they are beautiful experiences, there’s no shame in sharing.

Gratitude is the key to happiness, if you have a healthy understanding of gratitude, you can’t lose.

As you get older you realize that you will be fine and that this will not somehow stop you from being happy and that’s the goal in life, I think that everyone’s goal is to be happy.

There’s that corny saying about getting better with age like fine wine, and we have to say, that encompasses Chris. While he’s still quite young, and his life and career hold a bright future, it’s only getting better with time.

So happy birthday to you, Chris.
