Fresh off last week’s announcement of The Last Jedi, the still-untitled Han Solo standalone film has officially begun production today.
Director Chris Miller made the announcement via Twitter today, tweeting a photo of him holding a slate with the title “Red Cup” in red letters accompanied by the caption, “Han. First. Shot.,” a reference all Star Wars fans know by heart. Check it out below:

While the plot still remains unclear, LucasFilm’s Kathleen Kennedy has already called it a “western heist movie,” while cinematographer Bradford Young called Miller and his directing partner Phil Lord “brave” for making it.
Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, and Woody Harrelson, the film is expected to hit theaters next May.
