Gymnast Laurie Hernandez on Motivation and Preparing for 2019 Competitions

When you look back to the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, a few names and events stand out among the rest. Every athlete in the games trained, prepared, and devoted their lives to their sport and some did so with record-breaking strength and passion.

Laurie Hernandez is one of those athletes. Part of the US Gymnastics team, she took home Gold in the team event and Silver on the balance beam. Her performance was executed with precision and determination. At the same time, in both the team and individual events, she was easy to watch as she demanded your attention with an unspoken confidence.

Her ability and personality have painted her as an inspiration to young women across the world. She’s continued that role in her everyday life by spreading her positivity and motivating message to the people she encounters.

For those reasons and more, we were lucky to get to interview Laurie. We got to chat with her about her own inspirations, her earliest memory of being a gymnast, and what she’s doing to get ready for upcoming competitions in 2019 that will lead up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

We will be taking her words of inspiration for sure! Look out for Laurie in the coming months as she prepares for the 2020 games!
