Disney is Reportedly Unlikely to Rehire James Gunn

Reports have it that Disney is not likely to rehire James Gunn after he was fired for the series of tweets from Gunn that recently surfaced. This will also most likely postpone filming, which was supposed to begin in early 2019.

The Guardian of the Galaxy actors issued an open letter supporting Gunn, but Disney will have none of that. According to sources, Disney believes that the jokes Gunn tweeted were not fit for the family friendly image that they operate under.

According to Variety, Disney had no idea about these tweets before they surfaced. Despite the fact that Gunn had issued an apology, this was not enough to get him rehired.

“I don’t see Disney re-hiring him,” a source told IGN, “Those tweets were so horrible and Disney has a different standard than other studios.”

Disney openly acknowledges the Guardians cast’s open support for Gunn, but they also believe that all the actors will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and other possible installments in the future of the franchise, solely because of the contract binding them to their roles in the franchise. However, due to James Gunn’s absence, the film may take more time than it was expected to before it goes into production.

A replacement for Gunn will be needed, and Disney is reportedly not in a rush to find one. They are said to be willing to wait for the “right film maker” to come along-delay or not. We can probably expect a fresh face-and one who is new to the MCU.
