Greg Nicotero Signs on as Designer for ‘Spawn’ Reboot
Todd McFarlane and Blumhouse’s Spawn reboot has found its designer in somebody with whose work we are very familiar!
Make-up and effects artist and supervisor, Greg Nicotero, has signed on, along with his studio, The KNB EFX Group, to design Spawn in the new film. Nicotero currently serves on The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead as a director, executive producer, and make-up supervisor.
Nicotero and his studio actually worked on New Line’s 1997 Spawn film, so he is also very experienced in all things Spawn.
The new Spawn is being helmed by comic master Todd McFarlane, who will be making his directorial debut. McFarlane said the following after the announcement Wednesday,
“I’m a long-time fan of Greg’s work and the projects his company, KNB have done throughout the years. Working with him once again, to re-invent the Spawn ‘look’ so it will match the supernatural theme in the movie, is going to be a fun process.”
Along with The Walking Dead and Fear, Nicotero most recently worked on The Hateful Eight, Lone Survivor, The Green Inferno and This Is The End.
He began his career working on 1985’s Day of The Dead and its groundbreaking zombies.
The Spawn reboot will star Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner. Foxx will play a black-ops agent Al Simmons. When Al is murdered, his soul is sent to hell, where he makes a deal with the devil. He’s allowed to go back to Earth-but not without a catch. His wife has moved on from his death, and now he’s forced to re-integrate on Earth with his new devilish powers from Hell.
