Okay, have you seen Green Lantern? If so, I’m incredibly sorry. The movie is just… not good. Not even in that so bad, it’s good way, it’s just a bad film. I don’t blame Ryan Reynolds for this, he did his best. If anything he was sort of a highlight in the film, but nothing could save it. It’s probably DC‘s worst movie ever. Somehow Green Lantern is one of the top Netflix movies right now, though. Where is this sudden Green Lantern resurgence coming from?
I think it’s safe to say that Green Lantern isn’t suddenly shifting to a cult classic. I mean, I don’t think so. I have to believe for my own sanity that it isn’t the case. Something is obviously going on though since tons of people are choosing to watch the movie all at once.
Could this really just be because of its inclusion on Netflix? Or maybe people are so hungry for Green Lantern content they’ll take anything. We got a glimpse of what Green Lantern would have looked like in the Snyder Cut, so it’s possible that is what started all this.
All of these stats are for the U.S by the way, so get ready because it may shock and confuse you. In the United States of America, Green Lantern is currently #2 on Netflix. That’s right, Green Lantern is sitting at #2 on Netflix. Tell me that’s not insane.
Just so we’re clear here, this is a film that even the director admitted was bad. When speaking with ScreenRant previously, Martin Campbell, said “The film did not work, really. That’s the point, and I’m partly responsible for that. I shouldn’t have done it. Because with something like Bond — I love Bond, and I watched every Bond film before I ever directed it. Superhero movies are not my cup of tea, and for that reason, I shouldn’t have done it. But directors always have to carry the can for the failures. What do they say? Success has many fathers, failure has one. And that’s me.”
Well, there you have it. Green Lantern is one of the top Netflix movies right now. So maybe you should go ahead and check it out? But don’t though.
