Turns out American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy had one more announcement tucked away before the big reveal of the 7th season title.
Murphy announced via Twitter on Wednesday evening that HBO Girls star Lena Dunham will be joining the production. Murphy tweeted, “Thrilled that my talented friend Lena Dunham is joining the AMERICAN HORROR STORY family. Always wanted to work together, and now we r!”

According to Deadline, Dunham’s visit to the American Horror Story universe may be short-lived as she is reportedly only appearing in one episode. Dunham wrapped her show Girls earlier this year in April.
Over the past several weeks, Murphy has been teasing fans on his various social media pages with creepy clues and casting announcements. So far, we have seen a pretty creepy potential new monster, a “red, white and blue clue” showing someone (most likely Evan Peters) with blue dyed hair, a totally new look for star Billie Lourd, his latest casting announcement that Colton Haynes would be joining the American Horror Story family, a terrifying ambidextrous monster, an announcement that Twisty the Clown, one of the most feared characters from American Horror Story: Freakshow, would be returning, a super creepy trypophobia nightmare photo and, on Monday, Murphy teased his final clue, leaving the internet abuzz before the big title reveal.
Murphy has already confirmed, season 7 of American Horror Story will be set to focus on the most recent Presidential election and will show a version of President Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. The new season is set to take place immediately following the 2017 election night. In addition to Peter, Lourd and Haynes, additional casting will include American Horror Story alum Sarah Paulson and newcomer Billy on the Street host Billy Eichner.
