Riverdale is adding a few new cast members to its lineup, we learned during this weekend’s New York Comic Con!
The Jones family is expanding, the cast and crew confirmed during a panel which included showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, K.J. Apa (Archie), Lili Reinhart (Betty), Luke Perry (Fred), and Madchen Amick (Alice).
Jughead’s mother, Gladys Jones, has been cast as none other than Gina Gershon. Gladys is a biker ad business woman who runs a salvage yard. It’s also a Southside Serpent hangout and compound. She went to school but is also a serpent and she acts as the leader and mother to a bunch of teenage punks.
Jughead’s sister Jellybean (JB), a wise beyond her years, but headed in a bad direction teen, will be played by Trinity Likins.
Jellybean is following in her mom’s footsteps, and the two live in Ohio and scam people for a living. They make the journey to Riverdale in the episode airing on December 12th.
Gershon is coming off of a Café Carlyl residency where she had been performing her musical act titled, “Wild Women Don’t Get the Blues.”
She can be seen on Rescue Me, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Red Oaks and Lifetime’s House of Versace. She’s appeared in films Face/Off, The Player and Bound
You my recognize Likins from Hallmark film, Christmas in the Air, and a recurring role on Unspeakable.
