The actress and ex-MMA fighter, Gina Carano, was dismissed from The Mandalorian in 2021 after her social media posts had caused an uproar; one of which compared the abhorrent Nazi extermination of Jewish people to “disliking someone for their political stance.”

On Monday, Rick Famuyiwa, the executive producer and director of the series confirmed to Deadline that Dune will remain part of its lineup. Fans can rejoice as Season 3 has returned

“Cara was a big part and continues as a character to be part of the world. It had to be addressed in the creative and [Jon Favreau] took the time to think about that,” Famuyiwa said.

“It was something that was discussed as we knew it was going to have impact on the show, but at the same time, what has been at the heart of the show are the two characters — Din Djarin and Grogu — so ultimately it felt like a servicing of that, and around the Mandalorian,” he continued.

Yet it remains uncertain whether Carano will reprise the role of bounty hunter, or if a different actress will be cast for the part.

The Post has contacted reps for Carano, Famuyiwa and Disney+ for comment.

When Deadline questioned how much of Dune will be featured in the series, Famuyiwa and Lucasfilm creative director Dave Filoni responded: “Our galaxy is immense. There are a plethora of characters vying for screentime. We’ll just have to wait and see as each season unfolds what their adventures hold; however, he’s an essential character that was crucial for Din Djarin’s story arc so we’re curious if his development has moved beyond that point”.

Despite Carano being removed from the series and claiming she was “taken away of all her belongings,” her acting career was far from finished. In 2022, she landed a role in Daily Wire-created film “Terror on the Prairie.”

The unvaccinated actress not only predicted to the Post Millennial that her dismissal from Hollywood was inescapable, but accepted it with aplomb.
