From a bastard to a Catholic.
Kit Harington‘s next leading role will be in the form of a three-part BBC miniseries titled Gunpowder. Set in 1605, the series centers on a group of English Catholics who attempt to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I in order to restore a Catholic to the crown. Believed to have been the mastermind of it all is Robert Catesby (Harington) who was among the group. Joining Harington are Lord of the Rings‘ Liv Tyler as Cateby’s cousin Anne Vaux and Sherlock‘s Mark Gatiss as Robert Cecil, King James’ “spymaster-in-chief,” sent to track down and torture those involved in the assassination plot.
Production will begin later this month, however, a release date has not been set as of yet.
