Gal Gadot Gives Update for Netflix’s Red Notice 2 with Stars Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson

Red Notice continues to hold the title as the most significant original movie in Netflix’s history, and fans have eagerly awaited news about its sequel. The action-comedy featuring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot shattered records upon its release in 2021, prompting Netflix to greenlight not just one, but two direct sequels with the entire star-studded cast returning. However, despite being more than halfway through 2023, updates on Red Notice 2 have been scarce.
Netflix has yet to make any official announcements, but Gadot recently provided some reassurance that progress is being made. While discussing her new Netflix film, Heart of Stone, in an interview with Collider, Gadot disclosed that she has read the script for Red Notice 2 and expressed her enthusiasm for what lies ahead.
“We’re all in discussions,” Gadot shared. “I’m not sure if I can say much! I’ve already read the second script, and let me tell you, it’s… whoo! We’re all very excited about it.”
Gadot’s mention of the Red Notice 2 script marks the first update since October, when producers Beau Flynn and Hiram Garcia spoke with Collider about the franchise’s future.
“We have a Red Notice 2 script and almost a third,” Flynn revealed. “Our plan, if Hiram and I have our way, is to make those movies back-to-back. However, it all depends on the scripts and how Dwayne, Gal, and Ryan feel about them. But the franchise is incredibly thrilling, and Netflix is really invested in it. Rawson Marshall Thurber, the director and screenwriter, is fully committed.”
“Yeah, Rawson is hard at work,” Garcia added. “We just had a conversation with him about it the other day. He’s deeply engrossed in the process because it’s his baby. He’s putting in the effort. We’re excited to dive into it and see the new draft he’s about to deliver to us very soon.”
It has been confirmed that two Red Notice movies are currently in development, and Netflix is considering filming them consecutively. As Flynn mentioned, writer/director Rawson Marshall Thurber is presently working on scripts for both films.
While Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot are expected to reprise their roles for the Red Notice sequels, there has been no update on the production timeline for these highly anticipated movies.
