FX orders pilot for ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spinoff ‘Mayans MC’
It’s official SAMCRO fans! Soon your days of watching and re-watching FX’s hit Sons of Anarchy on Netflix will be long gone as some exciting news has just been confirmed about the future of California MC’s.
FX announced Thursday that it has green lit the pilot for Mayans MC, a spin off that will dive into the world of the Mayans motorcycle club that fans became familiar with during SOA’s original run. The pilot will be written and directed by SOA creator Kurt Sutter.
Not many details have been released about the show as of yet, but we do know that it will take place sometime after the events that occurred in the SOA finale. It will follow Mayans MC prospect EZ Reyes as he struggles with revenge against the drug cartel while also trying to gain respect from the women he loves in his life (perhaps he will have a strong mother figure in this series as well).
It is unclear whether fan favorite Emilio Rivera, who played the president of the Oakland Chapter Marcus Alvarez, will be reprising his role in the new series. He did however, release this tweet and Instagram following the news.

It has never been a secret that FX wanted to continue the world of Sons of Anarchy in some way. Mentions of a First 9 prequel series were once at the forefront, but it seems that now they’ve decided to dig into the world of the Mayans MC and fans seem to be stoked!

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
