Further Information Has Come To Light Regarding Kevin Costner’s Reported Discontent With ‘Yellowstone’

For many weeks, the fate of Yellowstone has been uncertain due to a rift between actor Kevin Costner and series creator Taylor Sheridan. Until recently, however, no one has known what caused this disagreement – until now.

According to journalist Matthew Belloni of Entertainment Tonight, the fifth season of this show has been marked by disputes with its star. It appears these skirmishes have been primarily due to scheduling and money matters; however, Costner is resolved in his decision not to film extra episodes for the series.

“Kevin Costner is famously headstrong and he has been at odds with Taylor Sheridan, the creator of this show, for months now over the days that he’s gonna be shooting for the next part of the season.”

Belloni asserts that Costner’s giant ego renders him inflexible. Additionally, the actor appears to be heavily committed to another project – a Western called Horizon in which he intends to direct.

“”He really wanted to put that in front of Yellowstone, and the producers of Yellowstone said, ‘Hey, the show is your first priority, we’re paying you a lot of money to do this show.’ And Kevin just was very headstrong and wanted his way.”

Costner’s legal representative strongly disputed the reports regarding his client’s purported scheduling requests, calling them false and incorrect. He highlighted Costner’s dedication to the show and emphasized how much effort he has put forth for it to succeed.

Belloni stated that Costner is contractually obligated to film for a set period of time and will not work longer than the days he initially consented to, unless he receives additional financial reimbursement.

“He is taking the position that, for anything outside of his contractually obligated time during shooting, he should be paid extra for it.”

The Oscar-winner is currently the highest paid actor on television, and can reportedly make a whopping $1.2 million for each episode of his series alongside an additional cut that has earned him over $20million per season! And if Paramount renews Yellowstone, this goes up to a staggering $1.5million per episode!

According to Belloni, Costner’s exorbitant financial expectations for shooting the remaining episodes of season 5 have infuriated producers and put the show’s future in an unpredictable state. It is still unknown if he will agree to film his segments for the upcoming instalments or not.

“Yellowstone is really in limbo right now until they can figure out whether Costner is coming back or, more likely, whether he’s going to be written out of the show, Once that determination is made, they can finish writing the second half of this season, shoot it, and it will likely air in the fall.”

Losing Costner from the show would be a grave tragedy. His skill and brilliance in portraying John Dutton is what keeps Yellowstone running. It’s uncertain whether the series can maintain its success without him, but one thing’s for sure: it won’t be easy to fill his shoes.
