Friends is making a coming back, but not in the way you think! A 1994 show that defined a generation is being brought back to life by Bob and Tolby McSmith, who also brought us Saved by the Bell and Full House musicals, in an Off-Broadway production.
Tolby told Entertainment Weekly that they plan to use this opportunity to poke fun at the show and celebrate all its crazy moments, that includes also making fun of the casts’ personal lives. He also stated, “Oh and there will be a smelly cat, there will be Janice, and there will be Fat Monica.” The thought of seeing so many memorable moments and characters on stage anytime of the week makes me giddy.
Some of the original songs to be included in the show are “We Were On a Break!”, “How You Doing, Ladies?”, and of course “We’ll Always Be There For You.”
The unauthorized musical parody is slated to open in the fall at The Triad Theatre in New York and tickets go on sale in June. For more information, go the musical’s website.
I couldn’t BE more excited!
