Freddie Highmore Gets His First Golden Globe Nomination!

Big congrats to The Good Doctor star Freddie Highmore on his first Golden Globe award nomination ever!  The complete list of nominees was announced on Monday and Highmore has been nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

Though Highmore has received high praise and accolades from both fans and critics alike for his past roles, both in film and television, he has never been nominated for a Golden Globe or Emmy.

Highmore is joined by some fierce competition in the Best Actor category.  He’s up against Jason Bateman (Ozark), Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan).

At a young age, Highmore captivated audiences with his roles in 2004’s Finding Neverland, 2005’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, 2007’s August Rush and 2008’s The Spiderwick Chronicles.

From 2013 to 2017, he starred in the role that perhaps he’s best known for – playing Norman Bates on the A&E hit television series Bates Motel.  The role earned him a People’s Choice Award for Best Actor.

Currently, Highmore stars as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, on ABC’s new hit drama The Good Doctor. The series is being hailed as the most watched drama this season, even beating out NBC’s This Is Us in viewership.

For Highmore, this nomination is long overdue and is definitely well-deserved!  We wish Freddie luck in his category.  The Golden Globes broadcast will air on January 7th at 8 PM EST on NBC with Seth Meyers hosting.
