Fox’s newest addition to their line up is a brand new Marvel series called The Gifted. It was announced Tuesday afternoon that the network had officially given Marvel the green light and ordered the series.
The Gifted tells the story of a suburban couple, Reed and Caitlin Strucker (Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker), whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
According to Deadline, since this series will take place in the same Marvel universe as the X-Men films, the series will feature characters from the film and comic book franchise. Also, with the addition of this series, Fox will become a rarity in the comic universe world as the network will be home to both Marvel and DC (Gotham) programming.
At the helm for The Gifted is X-Men director Bryan Singer with Matt Nix as writer and executive producer. Singer will also executive produce with Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Winberg, Jeph Loeb, and Jim Chory.
In addition to Moyer and Acker, the series also stars Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby Bell, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, Natalie Alyn Lind, and Percy Hynes White.
Check out a teaser trailer for the new drama below. The official full-length trailer will be released next Monday, May 15th.
