Fortnite’s Playground to Shut Down
The playground mode is about to take a brief break to close and revamp. EPic games took to Reddit to express this to fans Thursday.
Epic said that Fortnite’s playground mode would shut down the limited time mode on July 12, 2018 in order for it to be “taken back under construction for the next version”.
Playground lets players enter a “creative mode” where they can play in ways they wouldn’t normally. They can mess around with weapons and build odd structures with other players. Once Playground is offline, Epic will add brand new features such as team selection. Fortnite users have been asked to submit to submit their ideas of features they would like in the new version of the Playground mode.
Playground was announced in May, but it went live in June on the 27th. Epic then took it down just hours later due to long wait times and game errors. So in another very short amount of time, the mode will be shut down yet again only to re-open with the following new features:
- 1v1s and 2v2s
- Aim assist for controllers
- Ability to change other player’s structures
- Traps affecting teammates/enemies correctly
- Ability to highlight teammates on the map
- Ability to damage your enemies with pick-axe
There still isn’t a release date for when Playground will return.
