Alcon Entertainment and Warner Brothers handed fans not one, but two news nuggets this morning – the first teaser trailer and synopsis for the anticipated sequel Blade Runner 2049. The first film launched back in 1982 and was based upon a short story by renowned science fiction author Philip K. Dick. After years of ironing out a story, fans are hoping Ridley Scott isn’t just producing a sequel just for money’s sake.
After watching the trailer below – our fears appear to be tucked away.
Thirty years after the events of the first film a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for thirty years.
Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Lennie James, and Barkhad Abdi. Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) directs from a script by Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Logan, Alien: Covenant). The Ridley-Scott produced film will be released on October 6, 2017. Stay tuned to Fan Fest for more developing news.
Jerrold spent his childhood in southeastern Pennsylvania ingesting far too many TV shows and movies, thus creating a stark-raving mad geek. He’s a movie aficionado, binge-watches Netflix, and is a total TV junkie. His addiction has led to an unhealthy and rabid obsession of various geek pantheons – Star Trek, Star Wars, both DC *AND* Marvel,
cult 80’s and 90’s television, Supernatural, The X-Files, Doctor Who, and, and…holy overload. He’s still waiting to run away in a 1967 Impala or a blue police box.
