Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has spent years trying to make DC anti-hero Black Adam a reality. On Wednesday night, he achieved his goal. The world premiere of Black Adam‘s world took place on Wednesday night, allowing fans to witness what Johnson and director Juame Collet-Serra were able to create. The embargo on those who saw the picture early was lifted, and journalists began sharing their thoughts on social media.
SPOILER ALERT: audiences seem to love Black Adam a lot.
Brandon Davis of ComicBook.com was one of the first to see Black Adam, and he had nothing but praise for the new DC film. According to Davis, the character of Black Adam is a role that Johnson excels at, and there is “epic, nonstop action” throughout the film. He said that a sequel would be nice in the immediate future, but that the tale could be improved in the next movie.
BlackAdam is an adrenaline rush that doesn’t stop. It compelled me to demand a second installment with a better storyline right away. It’s a straight shot of excitement when it moves. The characters are great, especially Teth-Adam and Doctor Fate. It’s a bad-a** flick. “It made me want a sequel with a smoother story immediately,” says one person on Twitter.”
#BlackAdam is built on some epic, non-stop action. It made me want a sequel with a smoother story immediately.

Most critics are in agreement that Black Adam‘s best quality is its action-packed plot. Erik Davis took to Twitter to say that Black Adam has “Tons of action, characters you’re instantly invested in & terrific pacing.”
DC’s #BlackAdam ROCKS! Tons of action, characters you’re instantly invested in & terrific pacing. Dwayne Johnson finds a great balance in being menacing & badass, but also empathetic. Especially loved Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman & Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate. More JSA movies please! pic.twitter.com/YSCco9zYA3

In a follow-up tweet, Davis praised Black Adam for his “really excellent world building… some of the best we’ve seen from DC.” He rounded out his comments by mentioning that Black Adam left him wanting more (in a good way) ).
Dorian Parks went online to give rave reviews for Black Adam, one of his most anticipated films of the entire year. He wrote that the action scenes were “incredible,” and praised the film overall, saying it left him with “high hopes for the future of the DCEU.” of DC’s Extended Universe franchise.
I have seen #BlackAdam! This was one of my most anticipated films of the year, and it did not disappoint. The action sequences were incredible, especially the ones with the JSA. The Rock crushes it as Black Adam. The film’s end left me with high hopes for the future of the DCEU. pic.twitter.com/vd0Zy35lWT

In her review of Black Adam, Courtney Howard praised Johnson’s performance as the titular character, calling it “terrific” and saying that the movie lays out “building blocks for a larger, grand universe.”
.@TheRock is terrific in #BlackAdam, which includes a hearty amount of real world touchstones (most affecting is it reinforces the need for heroes in bleak times). Director Juame Collet-Serra lays out building blocks for a larger, grand universe. Action is lively & BIG in scale. pic.twitter.com/pDBkSHRDrI
