It’s been 30 years since Dirty Dancing was released and to this day we know not not to Baby in the corner!
ABC is adapting the classic film for an upcoming TV movie.
This film is not a “replica of the original. This takes some liberties. It has the DNA of the original, but you are going to find out what happened to Baby and Johnny after that summer ended. So there’s some additional surprises in there that are new.” said Debra Messing, who plays Baby’s mother, Marjorie Houseman.
The film stars Abigail Breslin as Baby, Colt Prattes as Johnny, and Sarah Hyland as Lisa. Other cast members include: Katy Sagal, Nicole Scherzinger, and Bruce Greenwood.

Sarah Hyland’s boyfriend, Dom Sherwood, also go in on the action to show how proud he is of Sarah.
Debra Messing also hopes that “people who loved the movie are going to be happy with all the things that are iconic with the movie, that they’ll appreciate the things that are new and modernized with this version.”
This remake will feature songs from the original film, while adding a few more. As long as they keep “I’ve had the time of our lives,” I’m good.
The three-hour special airs Wednesday, May 24, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
