Finn Wolfhard and Carrie Coon Reportedly in Talks to Star in ‘Ghostbusters’

Information about Jason Reitman’s upcoming Ghostbusters continues to trickle out, with Variety sources being told that Finn Wolfhard (of Stranger Things fame) and Carrie Coon (Widows, Fargo) are currently in talks to star.

Take any information on the new Ghostbusters with a grain of salt though, as Sony isn’t keen on releasing any real details about the film just yet. No plot points of Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman’s screenplay have officially been released, only rumors that the film will center around children rather than the original actors – although the original actors are set to make an appearance in some capacity.

We do know that the film will be released sometime during the summer of 2020 and is a priority for Sony Pictures who has been diligently at work on the film for some time now, despite the initial reveal happening in only January of this year.

Wolfhard’s addition to the cast is not surprising to anyone who has watched Stranger Things or the recent IT remake, but apparently Reitman was weary of casting any Stranger Things alum due to the alarming similarities between Ghostbusters and Netflix’s hit show. If sources are to be believed it seems that Reitman’s hesitance was dashed upon seeing Wolfhard’s audition.

Hopefully soon some concrete casting information will be released along with a plot synopsis, until then all we can do is speculate and report on rumors from sources close to Sony Pictures.
