Iron Fist may have fallen victim to Netflix’s Marvel wipe-out, but Finn Jones has already lined up his next small-screen role. According to Deadline, the actor is set to star in Greg Berlanti’s upcoming Fox pilot Prodigal Son, which will provide both a fresh take on the crime genre with a darkly comedic tone.
Prodigal Son will follow “Malcolm Bright, the son of a notorious serial killer called The Surgeon who understands how killers think. The criminal psychologist uses his skills to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers while balancing his manipulative mother, annoyingly normal sister, and a homicidal father still looking to bond with his prodigal son.” Good Omens star Michael Sheen will be playing Malcolm’s father and Bellamy Young will be playing his mother. Lou Diamond Phillips, Aurora Perrineau, and Frank Harts have all been cast to star in the pilot as well.
It will be written by Legends of Tomorrow’s Chris Fedak and Deception’s Sam Sklaver. Berlanti will executive produce under his Berlanti Productions banner alongside Fedak, Sklaver, and Sarah Schechter. The project is the first partnership between Berlanti and Fox, adding another potential series to the prolific producers impressive 15 scripted series on the air. He also has two new pilots in the works at The CW where his Arrowverse shows and Riverdale are currently residing.
What do you think about Jones’ next role? Do you hope to see Prodigal Son picked up to series? Let us know!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
