The wait is almost over! The final installment of the beloved Kingdom Hearts franchise, ‘Kingdom Hearts 3‘, will be released on January 29th, 2019. The official Kingdom Hearts Twitter released the final trailer, entitled ‘Final Battle’, early this morning with the tag line, “Unexpected events have begun to unfold in the Disney worlds at the hands of the enemy’s dark ambitions. Sora and friends have gathered for the final battle between light and darkness in #KingdomHearts III! Will you be joining us in the epic adventure on January 29th?”
Kingdom Hearts has been in the news a lot lately, and not just because of the 12 year wait between numbered installments. Recently copies of the game were stolen and leaked online, with a few copies being sold through Facebook marketplace. Director Tetsuya Nomura issued an official statement about that issue, assuring fans that the game’s epilogue and secret movie were purposefully not included in early copies and will be released at a later date (I’m assuming through a patch). So, at worst, only a few plot points can be spoiled in the leak, while nobody will know the true ending until the game is released on January 29th, 2019.
Leak aside, hype for ‘Kingdom Hearts 3’ has been building considerably, with ads seemingly everywhere you look. The final installment, which once was thought of as a pipe dream due to the time between titles, is fast approaching. Be sure to keep watching FanFest.com for coverage of the game as well as a review after release!
