February Games With Gold Announced for Xbox One

Microsoft announced their lineup for February’s Games with Gold today. The varied collection of games includes releases from all three Xbox generations.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lfkh2pnIObA]There will be four free games available this month including Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and Super Bomberman R for the Xbox One console, Assassin’s Creed Rouge (originally released on the Xbox 360 console) and Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (originally released on the first Xbox console). Both the original Xbox and the Xbox 360 games are backwards compatible on the Xbox One console.

Let’s take a quick look at each game:

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (Available for download between February 1st and 28th, 2019): Bloodstained has won rave reviews ever since its release early last Summer. For those unfamiliar, it is an 8-bit style game heavily influenced by Castlevania. The story features a demon hunter named Zangetsu who is on a journey to defeat his nemesis Gremory.  If you’re a fan of Castlevania or 8-bit style games, you should find a lot to like here.

Super Bomberman R (Available for download between February 16th and March 15th, 2019): Bomberman is a long running series dating back to the original Nintendo console. It is a maze type game in which a solo player or multiple players square off in a corridor using bombs to defeat enemies/other players. Bomberman has always been a fun party game and this latest edition of the long running series should be a great addition to any gamer’s library.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue (Available to download between February 1st and February 15th, 2019): The long-running Assassin’s Creed series has seen many protagonists and visited many different places and time periods. In Rogue, players take on the role of Shay who becomes entangled in an investigation into Templar interests in a Precursor article and manuscript. Like Assassin’s Creed Black Flag before it, players will navigate the seas on mighty ships as a pirate while also traversing the land in search of clues and targets.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (Available for download between February 16th and February 28th, 2019): In this fast-paced action game set in the beloved Star Wars universe players take on the role of Jaden Koor, who can be either male or female based on player preference, on their first day at the Jedi Academy. As time passes Jaden becomes increasingly frustrated with his/her masters and begins lashing out. To say any more would spoil the story but it is a refreshing change of pace from other Star Wars stories.

As always, in order to download any for these games you must have an active Xbox Live Gold membership. Memberships cost $9.99 for one month, $24.99 for three months or $59.99 for 12 months.
