Fear Turns Men into Monsters in new ‘It Comes at Night’ Trailer

If you’re looking for a terrifying horror movie, a new trailer was released today that sent viewers into a state of absolute fear. The film ‘It Comes at Night’ has a June 9th 2017 release and the storyline is left a bit open to interpretation, that is, until you watch the trailer.

Wikipedia lists the synopsis for ‘It Comes At Night’ as follows.

Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, the tenuous domestic order a man has established with his wife and son is put to the ultimate test with the arrival of a desperate young family seeking refuge. Despite the best intentions of both families, paranoia and mistrust boil over as the horrors outside creep ever-closer, awakening something hidden and monstrous within him as he learns that the protection of his family comes at the cost of his soul.

Will the unnatural threat be zombies? Aliens? Some type of illness that turns people into savages? Upon reading the Wikipedia plot, we began to think something like Cabin Fever, and now that the trailer has been released, we aren’t sure if we were spot on, or if we’re totally missing the mark.

Blood, gore, and something that makes people ‘sick’ definitely exist in the film, but the biggest ‘killer’ seems to be the distrust of your fellow man. From the beginning of the trailer until the end scene – people are hiding something, from themselves or from others, and those secrets look like they end up being quite deadly.

‘The red door stays closed’ and there’s only one set of keys. A (seemingly?) nice man and his family let a group of strangers in for a charitable act in a world overrun by…something evil? The trailer is interesting and attention grabbing, but doesn’t give away the root of the plot, nor did the synopsis.

For those reasons, we have added It Comes At Night to our must watch summer film list. There’s something about it that makes you want to know more, and we can’t wait to find out if the evil is truly outside, or if it’s been inside the home, locked behind the red door, all along.
