Waiting to see what Lennie James’ character of Morgan Jones will be up to in the upcoming fourth season of Fear the Walking Dead? Well, we can give you a glimpse of Morgan’s crossover to The Walking Dead’s sibling series with newly released photos from Entertainment Weekly. (See below).
At first, there was speculation and theories as to who would be the character to crossover from one series to another and how would showrunners accomplish such a feat with there being a huge difference in the timelines. The likely character that fans were crossing their fingers for was our beloved Abraham Ford. I mean, it made the most sense being that his character was based out of Houston, Texas and the fourth season will also be taking place there. It would have also meant that we would see the return of Michael Cudlitz and his portrayal of Abraham, especially after losing him so tragically at the hands of Negan and his Lucille.
Once it was announced that Abraham would not be returning but in fact, it would be Morgan that would be leaving one series and crossing over to the other, this left fans wondering what it meant for his character on The Walking Dead and how they would add Morgan to the storyline on Fear. Like we stated before, there is a significant time jump between the two shows.
What we do know is that, from the images, Morgan seems to be carrying his fighting stick. One image shows his character hiding from something. Maybe the dead or maybe the living. The second image shows him coming up on a walker, (or sitter), sitting in a parked car.
Could this mean that Morgan somehow travels west AFTER meeting Eastman? It would seem to be the case since he is carrying the staff that Eastman gave him.
Besides the character of Morgan, new showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg along with The Walking Dead’s showrunner Scott M. Gimple will be joining the series behind the scenes. Here is what Chambliss had to say regarding the crossover in an interview with EW.
“As Morgan Jones steps into the world of ‘Fear the Walking Dead’, he’ll be continuing the journey he began on ‘The Walking Dead’ way back in the pilot. Ian and I were huge fans of the character when Lennie James first brought him to life back then, again when he returned in season 3, and finally when he became a series regular in season 6.”
He went on to add:
“When we first met Lennie, he impressed upon us how much he cared about the character and how important it was to him for us to take Morgan to places we hadn’t seen before. It’s been a great challenge to set for ourselves, and it’s what we hope to do with the character — to push Morgan to places he could only get by coming into contact with the characters on ‘Fear’. They’ll change him. And, at the same time, he’ll change them.”
Until the premiere of the Fear the Walking Dead’s fourth season, which has yet to set a date, you can watch Lennie James as Morgan Jones in the back half of the eighth season of The Walking Dead when it returns to AMC on February 25, 2018.
