‘The Fate of the Furious’ Scores Biggest Global Opening Weekend Ever

This weekend, the Fast and Furious eighth film in the movie franchise made its debut. From the debut of the first trailer, the expectations and predicted success rate for the film were incredibly high; and rightfully so. The Fast and Furious franchise series is one of those few standing series that does it right; incredibly right. The film was an incredibly thrilling adventure, and exceeded all expectations.

According to Universal, Fate of the Furious has made an estimated $532.5 million at the global box office, just from opening weekend. Just in the United States alone the movie brought in approximately $100 million.

Fate of the Furious has surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens for most successful opening weekend; which had a previous record of $529 million.

Not only did the Fate of the Furious assume a title once given to The Force Awakens, but the feature now has the biggest international opening of any movie to date. The blockbuster has made a total of $432.3 million overseas, beating out Jurassic World’s record of $316 million.
