Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Cannot Wait for Charlize Theron’s Clea to Make an Impact

The prohibition on revealing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness spoilers and information wasn’t long, with Charlize Theron relenting after less than a week to post the first image of Clea, her 6.9 million Instagram followers, days after acknowledging that the cat was out of the bag.

Despite the fact that it was undeniably thrilling to see Academy Award-winning producer and proven action star Tilda Swinton make her MCU debut, the cameo felt a little tacked-on. If you were unfamiliar with comic book lore, you wouldn’t have known that Theron was playing Stephen Strange’s long-time friend, frequent lover, and occasional adversary until it was listed as such in the credits.
It’s another example of the “here’s an A-lister we’re saving for later” attitude that has sullied many a stinger, but fans don’t care now that they know Clea is on her way to making a major impact in the mystical side of mythology moving forward, as you can see from the reactions below.

Given that Multiverse of Madness has already broken the $500 million box office barrier in less than a week, confirmation of Doctor Strange 3 is almost certainly forthcoming. Let’s hope it doesn’t take anywhere near as long as the five and a half years between Scott Derrickson’s debut and Sam Raimi’s sequel, by which time Benedict Cumberbatch and Theron would both be in their 50s.
