Initially, Gil Kenan (Monster House) was considered to direct the film, but he dropped out after the movie left Warner Bros. Chris Columbus (Home Alone) was also considered when the film went to Blumhouse. It wasn’t until 2022 that the film settled on director Emma Tammi.
