Emma Stone has opened up about her experience filming with Willem Dafoe for their upcoming flick, “And.” The two have already shared the silver screen in “Poor Things,” but this time around it’s a whole new story.

“There’s this instinct to perform that many actors have — the ‘Look at me, look at me!’ kind of performer,” Stone told the New York Times. “He’s the opposite of that. Maybe it’s changed through the years. A lot of actors I bond with have been doing this for a long time, and you know they’ve gone from ‘I’ to ‘We.’”

In a stunningly powerful scene between Stone and Dafoe, the “Spider-Man” actor was so committed to his role that he insisted on staying on set while Stone delivered 20 slaps off-screen. Director Yorgos Lanthimos praised this dedication, noting “it’s what you want from actors – they should deeply yearn to be part of it in every way!”

Emma Stone, recently spotted playing an injured character on set, has been airlifted to film the upcoming thriller “And”. Details of the movie’s storyline have yet to be disclosed.

The last time Stone was seen on the big screen was in the 2021 movie “Cruella,” which told the origin story of the popular Disney villain, in which she played the titular character. Before she took on the role, Cruella De Ville was played by Glenn Close in the 1996 live action version of “101 Dalmatians” and its 2000 sequel, “102 Dalmatians.”

“I think she’s obviously the GOAT,” Stone said of Close during the D23 expo in 2019. “But I also have just loved the cartoon for a really long time.”

Close was also the executive producer for this project and shared her enthusiasm with US Weekly, stating “I’m excited to see what she did. My Cruella was that, but we will be seeing something entirely different.”

When asked if she and Stone interacted before filming commenced, Close admitted they hadn’t. She elaborated that it wasn’t necessary as “she was already able to look at two movies” of his.

Audiences adored the movie, but its crew deserved equal recognition for their hard work. At the 2022 Academy Awards ceremony, the film earned two nominations – best achievement in costume design and best achievement in makeup and hairstyling- with a win for costume design!
