American Horror Story star Emma Roberts is gearing up for her next small screen project as she is set to appear in a new Netflix series titled Spinning Out. The streaming giant has ordered the first season of the ice skating drama to series with a ten-episode order.
According to Variety, Spinning Out will find Roberts as “Kat Baker, an up-and-coming, high-level single skater who’s about to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall took her off the competition track. When Kat seizes an opportunity to continue her career as a pair skater with a talented bad-boy partner, she risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that could unravel her entire life. On and off the ice, Kat and her new partner will face daunting odds, injury to body and soul, financial sacrifice, and even potential mental breakdown on their way to realizing their Olympic dream.”
So, basically, if you’re a fan of almost any of the Cutting Edge movies then Spinning Out is totally going to be your jam. Samantha Stratton, a former competitive figure skater, created the series and will also serve as an executive producer and co-showrunner with Lara Olsen.
Roberts is currently starring on the current season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series American Horror Story: Apocalypse. She has been a part of the American Horror Story world during multiple seasons between three and eight and she also worked with Murphy on Fox’s two-season series Scream Queens. On the big screen, she recently appeared in Little Italy with Hayden Christensen, Billionaire Boys Club, In a Relationship, and Nerve with Dave Franco.

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
