Surprise bitch, I bet you thought you’d seen the last of Emma Roberts…

That’s right, the former Scream Queens actress is believed to be making a return to American Horror Story for its upcoming season titled ‘Cult’. Roberts teased fans by posting an image of herself on Instagram equipped with a knife, alongside the caption, “I’ve joined #ahscult, will you?.”

Murphy joined in with the teasing by reposting her photo and wrote, “Look who showed up on the set of Cult looking glamorous and ready for action.” The casting comes as it has been reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Kathy Bates – who has starred in the past four seasons of the anthology series – will not be returning to ‘Cult’ due to scheduling conflicts with her upcoming Netflix series Disjointed.

Roberts – who has previously had starring roles in Coven and Freak Show instalments of the gruesome show – will be joined by Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Cheyenne Jackson, Billie Lourd, Lena Dunham, Colton Haynes and Adina Porter.

Whilst plot details are still deeply under wraps, make sure to keep an eye out on Ryan Murphy’s social media accounts for any surprising hints.

American Horror Story: Cult will premiere Tuesday, September 5 on FX.
