Ed Helms Totally Wants to Be in a Superhero Movie

It looks like Ed Helms wants to do more than just tag Jeremy Renner’s character in the upcoming comedy Tag, he wants to star alongside him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe…or any superhero movie universe, really! While speaking with Collider, the notorious funny-guy admitted that after some of the action scenes they had to do in Tag, which follows a group of friends who’ve played a game of tag every May for 30 years, he was ready to take his new skills to the next level.

“I wanna be in a Marvel movie or something. I think, just give me a month or so and I’ll get the six-pack going. Yeah, I think I could be an action star.”

Helms, whose known for his comedy work in both film and TV in projects such as The Hangover franchise, The Office, and Vacation also spoke about the superhero film genre’s unexpected success over the years.

“I am surprised, and for the most part also delighted, because a lot of the movies are fantastic, but it is surprising to me and I think that part of what I find surprising is that these superheroes, they started out in comic books as such a campy concept. Early comic books are goofy and it’s because the idea of somebody in tights flying through the air is inherently silly. I think that early comic books got that and understood that.”

He finished up by once again reiterating his desire to be in a superhero movie. Perhaps we will see Helms slinging arrows next to his Tag co-star Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the MCU, one day.

“By the way, I’m not kidding, I would love to be in a superhero movie.”

Tag also stars Jake Johnson, John Hamm, Hannibal Buress, and Isla Fisher. It’s based off the hilariously true story of a group of friends who stayed in touch over the years by playing a game of Tag that spanned through some of the happiest and worst times of their lives.
