Hey, Prison Break fans! How would you feel about getting a 6th season with Michael Scofield, Lincoln Burrows and the whole Fox River crew? According to series star Dominic Purcell, that may just be something that’s in the works!
On Tuesday, Purcell posted a huge teaser to his Instagram page which has fans super excited. He posted a photo of the series logo with a simple and straightforward caption saying, “@prisonbreak #prisonbreak6. In the works.”
While there is really no other way to interpret Purcell’s post, it’s important to note that there has been no formal announcement by Fox regarding more episodes for the series. Additionally, Entertainment Weekly confirmed from a Fox rep that, “there are no new updates on Prison Break at this time.”
In addition to Purcell, Prison Break stars Wentworth Miller, Sarah Wayne Callies. The series originally went off the air in May of 2009 but was resurrected earlier this year with a 5th season. The new season had most of the original cast members returning, including Miller whose character, Michael Scofield, was believed to be dead when the show originally ended.
What could a sixth season bring for the series? Back in April of this year, Miller told EW that he felt there was still a lot of stories that could be told. He said:
“I feel like there’s more story there and now we’re talking about multiple generations. There are a lot of different directions that we could go, but I’m not in favor of exploring any of that unless there’s something awesome that we can sink our teeth into.”
