The 1988 film, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, included a story claim that Laurie had died in a car accident. After that, the series focused on her daughter Jamie (played by Danielle Harris).

The film Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, released in 1998, features Laurie Strode fake her death years earlier and adopt the alias Keri Tate. The subsequent movie in the franchise, Halloween Resurrection (2002) opens with Laurie’s murder.

Halloween Ends is now playing in theaters, and we know Laurie’s fate as well as how Jamie Lee Curtis has left the franchise.

Even though Curtis is done with Halloween movies, Laurie Strode manages to survive the fury of Michael Myers.

Laurie has spent the past four years attempting to come to terms with Michael’s abuse over the years, having moved on from him. This includes purchasing a new house with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and attempting to set her up with Corey, who has been ostracized from the community as well. Just one year after Halloween Kills, Corey was watching a young boy while his mother went out for cigarettes. He accidentally knocked him off the stairs, causing him to fall down several stories and suffer fatal injuries. While Corey avoided jail time, he was nonetheless held responsible for the youngster’s death.

Corey discovers that he has a desire to kill those who get in his way after a chance encounter with the hidden Michael Myers. Laurie, on the other hand, is trying to move on from her trauma and embrace her love for Officer Hawkins (Will Patton). He tells her that nearly being murdered has given him a new appreciation for life, inspiring him to learn Japanese so he may see their lovely cherry blossom trees one day.

In the novelization, Laurie attempts to stop Corey’s involvement with Allyson when she learns he is heading down a dark path, which leads to him attempting to murder her as well. Fortunately, Laurie defends herself from Corey, who takes his own life in front of her by grabbing his knife and stabbing himself. With Corey obtaining Michael Myers’ mask to slaughter people, however, the actual Myers returns and confronts Laurie. After a spectacular fight in which they pin Michael’s body against a table while Allyson hacks his wrists until he bleeds out, they finally seal him away for good in the dump with him being completely destroyed once and for all.

After Laurie kills Michael, Hawkins arrives to help her with her injuries. With Allyson gone, Laurie asks Hawkins about the cherry blossoms before the film ends on a peaceful note between them.

Laurie’s survival will undoubtedly gratify long-time fans of the show, but there will certainly be those who believe her survival indicates Jame Lee Curtis may reprise his role at some point in the future.
