Doctor Strange 2: Is Tom Cruise Starring as an Iron Man Variant?

As you may have observed, the first full-length trailer for Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness dropped last night, and it has immediately plunged social media into a continuous state of rampant speculating. And now, that speculation, is centering around Tom Cruise making his MCU debut as Iron Man!

We haven’t seen this many ideas sprout up so fast since… well, since the last multiverse Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster was just about to debut, but Benedict Cumberbatch’s return as the Master of the Mystic Arts appears to have a scope and scale that Spider-Man: No Way Home is a tiny drama by comparison.

The sonorous tones of Patrick Stewart raised the hype levels tenfold, but given some of the other footage on display, fans are becoming increasingly convinced that Tom Cruise is set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as a Tony Stark variant.

As an alternative Iron Man has been a recurring topic in the rumor mill, but all of the “leaked” pictures that have circulated on the internet have been hilariously Photoshopped. That doesn’t imply it won’t happen; and if there’s one star with enough wattage to play an iconic role previously performed by Robert Downey Jr. without a lesser performance and presence, it’s Tom Cruise.
