Disney’s Live Action ‘Aladdin’ WILL feature Jasmine’s Tiger, Rajah

It seems as though the reoccuring theme all across the internet and Hollywood is our feline friends. Well, in light of the traumatic events of a recent Walking Dead episode – we have some great news for you! The whole new world of Aladdin is going to be bringing a very special character to the screens, and that character is Princess Jasmine’s tiger, Rajah!

Despite speculation that Princess Jasmine’s pet tiger won’t appear in the Guy Ritchie-directed remake, a source close to production recent told EW that Rajah will indeed be a part of the film.

In the original 1992 animated Disney film, Rajah was Jasmine’s primary source of companionship as she was forced to remained confined within her palace walls. That is, until Aladdin swept her off of her feet… literally onto his magical flying carpet.

In addition Rajah, Jasmine (Naomi Scott) will also have another companion in the form of a new character, a handmaiden named Dalia (Nasim Pedrad). Naomi Scott recent stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter  that Dalia will be a key confidante for her character.

“I never realized it, but in the animation, Jasmine is really the only female character — isn’t that crazy? The Dalia character is so important to this movie because she’s the only other female character. She may be the handmaiden but they’re best friends; they’re so close because they’ve grown up together. So we wanted people to watch the movie and see Jasmine’s relationship with another woman, and be like, ‘Ah, that’s what I’m like with my girlfriend,’ or ‘We would so do that if I was in that position.’ That’s something that’s missing from the animation.”

Aladdin, will fly into theaters on May 24, 2019— with Rajah in tow.
