Disney’s ‘Frozen 2’ Hits Number One on The Billboard Charts

Frozen 2 has been a resounding box office success and now it can claim the same for the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The album as released on November 15 by Walt Disney Records and we previously number three on the charts and then, with 80,000 units sold, it’s now risen to number one. Amazingly, Frozen 2 is the first full-length soundtrack to reach number one in 2019.

Frozen 2 is the sequel to the 2014’s blockbuster Frozen, which saw its soundtrack spend 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Ironically, Frozen 2 is also the first soundtrack of an animated film to hit number one since the first Frozen film soundtrack, which spent 13 weeks at No. 1 in 2014., the most for a soundtrack this century.

The Frozen 2 soundtrack features performances of songs heard in the film by the movie’s by Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff and Evan Rachel Wood. The album also features covers of those same songs by Panic! at the Disco, Kacey Musgraves and Weezer.

In Frozen 2, Elsa the Snow Queen and her sister Anna embark on an adventure far away from the kingdom of Arendelle. They are joined by friends, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven.

The movie premiered November 22, 2019 and is still in theaters and dominating the box office.
