Disneyland, renowned for its technological advancements in rides and attractions, is set to bring a Marvel superhero to life in an exciting development. Marvel and the theme park have announced plans to introduce Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as a free-roaming robot, and the results are impressive. In a video showcasing the technology, Groot appears on stage alongside Star-Lord and captivates the audience with a dance. The video of Robo Groot can be viewed below.
Joel Peavy, Executive R&D Imaginer at Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development, expressed the company’s commitment to authentic storytelling: “We want to bring these characters to life in the most authentic way possible.” He further explained that this involves creating a walking, robotic actor capable of movement, gestures, and emotional expression.
Michael Serna, Executive Creative Director of Disney Live Entertainment, shared his excitement about the guest response to Robo Groot: “Ideally, we want guests to get excited, but this is the first time I’ve seen guests get visibly excited— adults, kids. It is shocking what they get to see, and they understand how unique and fun this is.”
In another exciting development related to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, actor Vin Diesel, who portrays Groot, discussed the character’s final words in the film. During the World Premiere of Fast X, Diesel reflected on the significance of Groot finally speaking English and the audience’s ability to understand the Flora colossus’s language after a decade of loyalty to the franchise. He expressed gratitude for the patience and dedication of fans in waiting for a few words from Groot.
Marvel Studios describes Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as a movie that follows Peter Quill’s journey as he grapples with the loss of Gamora. He must rally his team to defend the universe while protecting one of their own. The mission they undertake holds significant stakes, and failure could potentially lead to the end of the Guardians.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theaters, offering fans the thrilling conclusion to the trilogy that began nearly ten years ago.
