Disney Releases New Poster and TV Spot for Live Action ‘The Lion King’
Disney released a brand new poster for the upcoming live action Lion King Sunday night, and it’s bringing the heat.
The new poster dropped Sunday night after the Oscars, when a new trailer for the film also aired. It features an image featuring a bright red sunset and the Lion father-son pair overlooking their kingdom on Pride Rock.
The trailer showed clips similar to the first which dropped in November 2018, but is just as powerful.

“The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. Utilizing pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way.”
The Lion King stars Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Beyoncé, James Earl Jones and is directed by Jon Favreau. It hits theaters July 19, 2019.
