Dumbo is one of several live-action reimaginings currently in the works from Disney. The studio is also developing live-action versions of classics such as The Lion King, Aladdin, and Mulan.
For Dumbo, the story may differ a bit from the original in order to give some focus to the human characters in the film. The official description for the film says:
Tim Burton directs from a screenplay written by Ehren Kruger (Ophelia, Dream House). The film is produced by Justin Springer (TRON: Legacy), Kruger, Katterli Frauenfelder (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Big Eyes) and Derek Frey (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Frankenweenie).
Dumbo will soar into theaters on March 29, 2019.
